OTHER LEAGUE INFORMATION

  • Players are drafted at Northwest Baseball in our AA-Prep divisions. ONLY siblings will be allowed to be placed on the same team, no exceptions. Players will not move UP or DOWN based on a parents request. All players will be required to play in division based on his or her age as of April 30, 2025. NO EXCEPTIONS!

  • Northwest will now have player agents. The role of these individuals is to make sure all divisions are following league and Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth rules. They are here to answer parent and coach questions throughout the season. If we don't know, we can't improve.

  • All coaches will be required to attend a coaches clinic at Northwest Baseball before the season starts. The clinic will be given by North High coach Stan Thompson. Stan has over 20 years of coaching experience and has attended several coaching clinics around the country. This clinic will help new coaches and even those who have been coaching a while learn new skills they can pass on to their players.

  • Each team will be required to assign 8 volunteers over the age of 16 in the snack bar once in the season. If a team doesn't show for snack bar duty THAT TEAM will not be eligible to participate in playoffs. This will be a team signup in the Spring NOT individual signup.

  • Teams are required to provide a team sponsor each season of $400. We have so many amazing businesses in town who would love to help with just a phone call about the league and your player. If a team doesn't obtain a sponsor they will lose 2 points in standings at end of season. The money we raise helps to keep the league running on our off season.

  • NO PARKING INSIDE THE PARK FOR ANY REASON. Only board members and staff authorized to park inside the gates. Handicap parking is allowed in designated spots OUTSIDE the gates ONLY due to children and families inside the facility. Safety is our top priority at Northwest
  •  ALL COACHES MUST COMPLETE SEXUAL ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING AND BACKGROUND CHECK PRIOR TO COACHING

Youth baseball plays a crucial role in the development of children and communities for several reasons:

  1. Physical Fitness: Baseball involves running, throwing, catching, and other physical activities, promoting overall physical fitness. It helps in the development of motor skills, coordination, and cardiovascular health.

  2. Teamwork and Social Skills: Baseball is a team sport that teaches children the importance of working together towards a common goal. They learn to communicate, cooperate, and develop social skills that are valuable both on and off the field.

  3. Discipline and Work Ethic: Being part of a baseball team requires commitment and discipline. Players learn the importance of regular practice, punctuality, and hard work. These values can translate into success in other areas of life.

  4. Character Development: Baseball helps instill important character traits such as perseverance, resilience, and sportsmanship. Handling wins and losses gracefully and respecting opponents and teammates are vital life lessons learned through sports.

  5. Healthy Competition: Youth baseball introduces children to the concept of healthy competition. Learning how to win and lose gracefully and understanding that improvement is a continual process are valuable aspects of character development.

  6. Sense of Belonging: Joining a baseball team provides a sense of belonging and community for children. It fosters friendships and a supportive environment where they can grow both as individuals and as part of a group.

  7. Mental Development: Baseball involves strategic thinking, decision-making, and quick reactions. These mental aspects contribute to cognitive development and help improve problem-solving skills.

  8. Lifelong Enjoyment: Learning to love and appreciate baseball at a young age often leads to a lifelong enjoyment of the sport. Whether playing or being a fan, the connection formed in youth baseball can extend into adulthood.

  9. Time Management: Balancing school, social life, and sports helps young players develop time management skills. Learning to prioritize commitments is a valuable skill that can serve them well in the future.

  10. Community Building: Youth baseball brings communities together. Families, friends, and neighbors gather to support and celebrate the achievements of young athletes, creating a sense of community pride and spirit.

In summary, youth baseball goes beyond teaching the fundamentals of a sport. It contributes to the holistic development of children, shaping their physical, social, and emotional well-being while instilling values that will benefit them throughout their lives.
